Strengthening the furnace

By | February 12, 2017

Lately I’ve had this idea in my head that I need to work my furnace. By furnace I mean I need to train my wind more—my heart and longs. I also mean I’m too damn sedentary.

In the winter, I just don’t walk enough. It’s cold outside and I don’t bring the right shoes. Blah, blah, blah—excuses. But that’s the way it is right now. Not enough walking, too much sitting.

I also slipped a bit in my workouts missing my movement/endurance workout and slacking off during the back off weeks. A perfect storm.

If I’m not exercising my heart and lungs properly, I tend to lose weight. It’s like my ectomorphic body kicks into overdrive. And I don’t digest as well. So I don’t have as much of an appetite.

I just realize the other thing that happened. My wife went back to work in January and this screwed up my morning workouts.

Well, awareness is the first step. Time to take action. Definitely need to do the walking. And I think I want to start punching and kicking the bag more. Some extended sets of double cleans won’t hurt, either.
